New Patch – What is your best Feature?
I would have to say that mine is the new Gettysburg Map, so far. I really haven’t had time to test the new maneuver features yet, the standard OOB’s seem to have too much Artillery for my taste.
The Union Cavalry seems to be about as much trouble for my forces as General Buford was on the first day of Gettysburg. I like the fact that they even chased some of my men that were retreating. That is a pretty cool new feature.
I have never really played with the Cavalry that much, but have they always dismounted and shot that way with the breach loading weapons aimed over their arm?
I also like the fact that the enemy Army is using different roads during their approach, and have a greater distance between them, this forces the Player to divide his Army while searching out the enemy. Quite realistic!
I also like the new Artillery sounds; they seem to have a better echo effect!
The only downside that I have so far is that most of the previous Mods will have to be completely redone to fit into the new system!
Over-all – this is a great addition to the ScourgeofWar game!

Yeah that's the bummer about mods but I'm sure everyone will get theirs compatible again soon. I'll be working to update mine today.New Patch – What is your best Feature?

Cool that you noticed the Cavalry pursuit... That's one of my favorite new additions to the cavalry, it's brutal.

We actually didn't touch the artillery sounds.. Unless someone didn't keep me in the loop. Have you noticed the new cavalry charge sounds? With a nice set of speakers or headphones, it sounds awesome! Also the new Rebel Yell sound.. During testing, it kept scaring away all of the yankees in my neighborhood.
And the cavalry has always shot that way. The only difference visually is the dismounted cavalry (found in some of the new scenarios). They are permanently dismounted so when meleeing, they will use their rifles as clubs.. Very cool looking.

havent had a chance to play much, but have to say i liked the fact that buildings draw much further off in the distance now. You can see the town from most locations unlike originally. Didnt see a huge FPS increase however, even with my new GPU, so not sure if the vegetation improvements made it in.

It's a quick fix. Just open the OOB you want to play in excel and add a column called "OOBMOD" to the L column.None of my own OOBs works anymore.:huh:New Patch – What is your best Feature?

Current OOBs available will also be fixed by the authors. I know I'll be fixing mine.

Re: New Patch – What is your best Feature?
The fix to OOBs is very quick. We can't remain stagnant and must always upgrade and improve features. This column will allow us to add features in the futures, allowing certain regiments to have specialties. We made it as painless as possible, it doesn't even need to be filled in.
It's always a pain when we update the csv files, we had to do a ton ourselves. But none of us feel that improving our feature set is ever a bad thing. The way it's designed it can be used for many more features in the future without further csv file changes.

Re: New Patch – What is your best Feature?
Thanks, I never noticed them shooting that way before, but then again, I used most of my memory on adding as many uniforms as possible, so I removed the Cavalry for most of my OOB’s.And the cavalry has always shot that way. The only difference visually is the dismounted cavalry (found in some of the new scenarios). They are permanently dismounted so during melee, they will use their rifles as clubs... Very cool looking.
Yeah, I noticed that this was not mentioned in the list of improvements, so I am also not sure if it made it into the game at this stage.Didn’t see a huge FPS increase however, even with my new GPU, so not sure if the vegetation improvements made it in.
You can’t find anything you like?None of my own OOBs works anymore.

Excellent, thanks Little Powell – this will allow me to mod an OOB without so much Artillery in it to test the new Infantry maneuvers. It's a quick fix. Just open the OOB you want to play in excel and add a column called "OOBMOD" to the L column.
As of last night, the only other files that I could get to play were the gfx, rifles, and the unitglobal files. But the gfx only allowed for some of the previous entries to be used, never did get any of the Infantry to work in that file.
It is never a bad thing in-so-far-as looking towards the future, probably slightly painful as of today, but hey, this is what modding is all about, constantly changing the changed. It's always a pain when we update the csv files, we had to do a ton ourselves. But none of us feel that improving our feature set is ever a bad thing. The way it's designed it can be used for many more features in the future without further csv file changes.
I’m sure that the SDK will be out within a couple of weeks, but is there any that you could list the changing columns within the various files.
I’m sure that most of them only changed a single column, but without this information my Army is stuck in the mud awaiting orders.

I'd say the best feature is the improved pathing for units ordered to road march.

Re: New Patch – What is your best Feature?
Just to chime in here about the OOB's, I had to do a uninstall and a reinstall of the game to get the stock OOB's to work in sandbox.

Re: New Patch – What is your best Feature?
Since you can't mod the stock OOBs, it was an installed mod and so the reinstall was unnecessary.
