Hhehe, I said to someone earlier that it would make a great map for a Red Orchestra tank battle ;)

Need some Russian Nap sprites now and its the perfect map for them and the French to slog it out.

Thanks, All for the positive, as well as the negatives related to the maps.

Basically, the first maps are going to be…well….a little bit of give and take, meaning some good, and some bad, considering that this is new ground that is being broken.

Understandable , this really does help out; as it will let me know how to proceed with any future maps.

And, No once these are released, there will not be any going back and changing any of the features, but I’ll try to do any thing that is negative a different way.

My firm belief is that the Splats can contain mostly real-world-terrain in them, so that is the direction that I’m going to move towards.

Some times it will work, other times; it may not work too well. But, that is the purpose of the forums, and the community, to help move the maps to a higher level.

So, continue to post your likes, as well as your dislikes, and this will help - to design the maps that you are going to be playing on!

I ve just have lot of fun with a corp vs corps battle. And is a fantastic sandox I must say. But I forgot to change the time battle and 60 minutes was not enough. It is big! what a maneuvre, my god.

Because it is very generic it will fit perfect in a hunt them all battle, without objetives.

Because It is not a scen map with some characteristic kind of things and it is more generic, it is true, It will fit perfectly in a napoleonic battle too, as it is said.

I like a lot the color palette.

Greetings.

Davinci, superb map! Had only a short game so far but i think the ground textures are really really good well done. Very lush looking and suits the nap sprites perfectly :p.
gunship24 – Thanks, and let me know what doesn’t work for you, so that I can try to correct that the next time around.
You have put in a lot of hours on your Napoleon Mod, so I’ll like to try to assist you in making a map that you feel works for that time-period.
Is it a 2´5 km map? 5 km map?
It is a five-mile-map based off of the Alpine map.
Some first impressions!
1) I like the new trees but their colour bleaches out with distance. Either all the textures and vegetation should bleach out in the distance or none should.

2) I'm not sold on the new road textures. Roads and trails should be hard beaten dirt and be a pale dusty brown.

3) I am ambivalent about the new green creeks. Can't decide if this works or not.

4) But where are the buildings? Farms look extremely odd without farm buildings. Can some be put back please?
Saddletank – OK,
1) I’m not sure about how to go about fixing that particular problem, I haven’t noticed it!

2) True, the roads were changed at the last minute; they appeared different in most of the screenshots that I posted earlier.
But, I ran into a problem with the roads blending into the terrain, which made them hard to see from a distance, so I changed them to make them appear more noticeable.

3) Another last minute change, “My Bad”!

4) I’ll make sure to add some in the next map.

Awesome...freakin' awesome. Definitely works well as either an ACW or Nap War Map. DaV, you are to be congratualted, again, for a superb job.

Tank - You're right. It took me a minute but it finally hit me - the Russian Plains west of Moscow, heading out towards Smolensk. I knew I'd seen it somewhere.

Oh yeah - BTW, I'm not supposed to mention that. PLease forget I said that. My NDA dosen't run out until 2020. Thanks.

All – I messed up on several of the entries in the mapname.csv files for both maps.

Here is a fix – but they must be done manually:

Download to the Desktop – and then extract the (two files) there.

Then place the appropriate file into your game…..such as below:

ELPine_1.csv – goes into your:
C:\NorbSoftDev\ScourgeofWar\Gettysburg\Mods\ELPine_1\Maps – folder

If this is done correctly – it will ask you to overwrite the previous file....Click Yes to Overwrite.

ELPine_2.csv – goes into your:
C:\NorbSoftDev\ScourgeofWar\Gettysburg\Mods\ELPine_2\Maps – folder

If this is done correctly – it will ask you to overwrite the previous file....Click Yes to Overwrite.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Davinci, thanks for being mature about the feedback, it helps to know my gripes were not just ignored. The more greyish-blue creek colour on ELP_ine2 works better than th egreener colour on ELP_ine1 but it may be because you made the texture wider and its deeper colour shows up more that way?

Its possible the colour-washed out trees at a distance is a function of my graphics card. If you don't notice it then that would be it, but I did include a picture of some distant trees in the screenshots I attached to my post so you can see the effect I am seeing.

I think its actually a characteristic of the ground texture as all the vanilla maps fade to grey at distance on my PC, including troops and flags having their colours washed out to almost nothing when they are a mile away. But its just the new ELP_ine1 and 2 ground textures that stay bright and clear to the horizon, so perhaps you could have a look at their properties vs the vanilla textures?

Davinci, This is outstanding! I was so trying to see all the familiar terrain from the Alpine map. You did so well It doesn't even come close to looking like the old Alpine map. Bravo my man,Bravo indeed. The ground looks so real. I just watched the troops move and forgot to set up my battle plan. It is like watching a movie.
My only request is to adjust the Holy Grail of all maps. Yes the Gettysburg map. Will you consider "adjusting" That most Holies of Holies in the future?

Dav,

Am having trouble with ELPine2. Troops are not finding and using the roads. The AI controlled troops are but not mine. Thoughts?
