Ligny Prussian infantry question

I notice that Prussian infantry in Ligny sometimes forms into column when stationary in line within musket range of French units, even when TC'd.

Is this supposed to happen or could it be a bug?

In some instances they do this after being ordered to go into line from column numerous times. Again, this happens even when the units are TC'd.
