John Carter of Virginia?
War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.

I don't think any of those is 'sarge' or the 'JC' we are talking about here. I was asking who is is/was.

Number of replies equals more PR for the thread. Too bad the number of replies don't always equal quality, or relevant PR. Such is the life of PR politics. :silly:And all of this has SO much to do with The Battle of South Mountain....

Re: 150th Anniversary of The Battle of South Mountain
SOWG does a good job of representing the battle with their South Mountain Scenarios. If you like the history of the Civil War this game can brings things to life(so to say). I know I have gained a greater understanding of the Civil War battles represented in this game from playing this game. Not perfect, but within reason not too bad.
For those few McClellan fans out there.......South Mountain was McClellan's greatest failure and this failure alone is enough to bury him in the annals of history as one of the worst field commanders ever. By being cautious the war was able to continue on another two years. It is better to end war as soon as possible rather than allowing the blood shed to continue.
In all out war, it is not who has won, but who is left.
