  • Being from Philadelphia and a descendant of a member of the 69th PA Irish Volunteers, that with stood the brunt of Pickett's charge at the wall, I was very disappointed not to see the unit flying their Irish colors in the game...also to their right, the 72PA Zouave Units aren't dressed as such...they were the unit at the angle, the 69th pa was in front of the corpse of tress at the wall. Is there a way I can modify these two units uniforms and colors? I'd really like to. Most units at the wall were from Philadelphia. Philadelphia brigade saw a lot of action in those three days.

  • Thanks for the suggestion...my uniform setting was on medium. Changed it to "best", but still no change. In the game, the Irish Brigade flags only fly in Kelly's brigade -> 116th PA, 69th NY, 88NY,...etc. Oh well I guess. Great game regardless, lost of fun and gives a unique perspective. Can't wait to go back to Gettysburg in July.

  • OK...now how do I do that. Probably a silly question, but still haven't been able to change it yet. I'm not a computer wizard when it comes to gaming. Thanks for your help.

  • I love the Rock of Erin painting by Don T. I made the Irish flag so I'll check with Jim why the 69th haven't got it.
Re the 72PA Zouaves - how were they dressed?

  • Thanks Tim!...72PA Typical Zouave uniforms I think (Red pants, blue coat, and turban. Their monument depicts a zouave using his rifle as a club...And another interesting note, on the battle field, the 69thPAvols monument right and left flank markers are linked with a chain because their line wasn't broken during the assault. Rebels enveloped them on both sides when Armistead slammed into the corps of trees and they held tough. Heading to Gettysburg in two days. Can't wait! Thanks for the discussion, ready cool.

  • One of Don Troiani's illustrations suggests that the 72nd had ditched the baggy Zouave pants by the time of G'burg. Some of them might still have been wearing their Zouave jackets.

  • Guitarmandanga is correct. And Don Troiani's paintings are pretty much right on as far as uniforms at Gettysburg. Bye the time of Gettysburg most of the fancey uniforms were discarded for the rigors of the battle fields. Although like most men in the military in those days some kept some their old uniforms and even wore them on the battle field.
