  • Updated Matrix version crashes in Windows 10 Home edition x64 version 1511.

    - recently clean (not upgrade) installed win10 home x64 v1511 (all drivers updated to latest win10 versions, eg sound & video)
    - clean installed matrix Waterloo v 1.00
    - patched v10006A
    - then patched v10043

First off, error message appeared saying D3Dx9_43.dll was missing.

    - found that and copied into root dir of game

    - Upon loading a scenario game windows message appears stating the game has stopped working.

i have checked that the sowwl.exe file has been set by the installer to win 7 compatibility.

    log:

Download the directx 9,10,11 from here www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109 and install them again. DOn't worry this leave the directx12 untouched, but should correct the problem.

  • Sorry Mitra, I don't know what you are referring to.

1)Which specific files from that website link do I need to download to fix this update?

2)Where do I download them to once I find them? Some Waterloo game folder or somewhere else?

3)Once downloaded, where specifically do I extract the information to?

  • The link Mitra gave goes straight to a file, simply d/l it to your desktop, then run it. Its a windows Dx10 file so Windows will store it where it needs it.

Its not a file that has anything to do with NSDs game.

  • My game is now very laggy like it was when the game first came out. Driect x DL made it not freeze up but performance is terrible now.

WebRoot Issue? Saw your posts on the Matrix board. Maybe your antivirus settings need to be reset for the patch.

  • My game is still crashing.

When I select the link that Mitra suggests the file downloads to my desktop:

    "Directx June 2010 SDK"

"Please type the location where you want to place the extracted files."

    No default directory is listed.

When I download the file contents the game still crashes.

  • At this point I would just like information on how to make my game run again, even if it is the previous version, which updated without a problem when it came out months ago.

Do I have to uninstall the entire Waterloo program and reinstall the game from scratch?

  • Did you run the direct x setup. If not you need to do this. You will see a Microsoft setup menu and if run it will tell you that it is installing.

  • We did update the version of directX we were linking with, but it was just the latest dx9, nothing even close to recent. But we all did fresh installs on win10 and win7 without these issues. The only thing that I can think of is where Mitra is directing everyone. That there is a version of directx that you need that you do not have installed. We must have had it installed for other games during our testing. Usually you can get these through MS. But the links Mitra is posting are just to the proper version of dx.

Make a new folder on your desktop.

Extract your files into your new folder.

Open your new folder & run the setup file to install direct x.

Delete your new folder now direct x is installed. :)

  • Hey Roy64.

    That did the trick!

    Much thanks for the advice.

FYI. When I downloaded the directx into the new folder I created on my desktop there were 157 files inside.

I just needed to find and click on the right one.

    Just one follow-up question.

Is there a screen in the game that shows which version of the program you are using?
