Guys,

I took some time to write up a blog entry on the Top 5 books on the Battle of Antietam and the Maryland Campaign of 1862. I'm interested to see what everyone thinks. Did I do a decent job? 1. Landscape Turned Red: The Battle of Antietam is definitely the best IMO and is my favorite. It's almost scary how how much the author knows about the battle, right down to the smallest detail.

"Landscape Turned Red" and "Taken at the Flood" are both excellent. "Landscape Turned Red" I read for pleasure and "Taken at the Flood" I had to read for Grad school.

Now there are a few more books I'll have to get.

MarkT turned me on to the Frassanito book as well as The Gleam of Bayonets, by James Murfin. Very good read. The intro was written by one of my teachers in college (James I. Robertson) so there's bonus points for this book.

I have Robertson's biography of Stonewall Jackson. Great book.

I've read it several times. That man did his research well.
