Scourge of War Boards

I started playing at seasoned - when I detach a few Hussars now and send them forward to scout the battlefield, I don't quite see what they see anymore. I have to stay with them all the time to get a glimpse, but what they see does not appear on the map.
On even higher difficulties it becomes harder to even order them to scout. You can send them off and that's it then. There is no feedback.

Is this how it is supposed to be?

Check your map options. It should have a setting for "show all icons." And if you play with couriers on, you should get messages "sir, enemy has been sighted to my front" or whatever.
