1836 Mexican War

I have come across a very strange & perplexing situation. I can download the 1836 Mexican War OOBs, I can open them with zip, I can read their contents, & I can install them as mods in the game, I can select the mod, together with Wagram & Kriegspiel (which I have renamed as Logistics 1 & 2) but when I go to sandbox, they don't appear. They don't appear in 8.1, & they never appeared in 8.0, even though the first test edition did. What could be the source of this mystery? Am I the only one with this problem?

Don thanks for at least asking rather than giving up. Am afraid I don't have Windows 7 or 8 so couldn't test. Perhaps those that do will help out. Seems odd the oobs don't show up.
Sounds like Windows is doing its best to $#"@ things up, as usual.
Perhaps delete and reinstall the mod.

I've already tried that- many times. I'll try it again. I put the mod ratio at 1. I can't think of anything else to do. I must install the mod from desktop in Windows. It doesn't work if I install it directly through extraction to mods. RebBugler suggests removing the "." before "7z". I've tried that, but I also get a warning sign that the mod might become inoperable if I change its name. It's bizarre that it appears among the mods, that it can be selected as a mod, that I can mark it with a yellow mod block, & yet it won't show in the selectable OOBs in sandbox.

Check your game's folder. Are the Mexico oobs in the oob folder in your Mexico mod folder? Check they extracted properly. Other than that I'm struggling as I don't have Windows 7 or 8.

The mod breaks apart into various subfolders up[on extraction. I checked the OOBs; they seem to be okay (2 at 17kb;1at 18kb). I found the mod's graphic folder in another part of the computer & reunited it with the OOBs. Now I get the frame & graphics of the selection scenes, but the OOBs still aren't there What other subfolder(s) might still be missing from the mod?

I finally figured out what was happening, thanks to a clue in Crikey's last email. Everything in Windows 8.0/8.1 has to be downloaded to the desktop. I revised what was in the mods by opening File Explorer. Several subfolders were missing. I had already renamed my mod folder 1836 Mexico in order to avoid the ".7z" curse mentioned by RebBugler. When I opened a fresh download of the mod from MediaFire, I found several new folders on my desktop. I inspected their contents using Open Office & found that they were the missing subfolders. It was a simple operation to click & drag them from the desktop to the 1836 Mexico mod folder already in the SOW files. After that, they worked! I played an entire scenario to test them. Anyone using Windows 8.0 or 8.1 that has problems with installing this mod can use this method.

Don,
I followed your lead. I created a folder in mods called Mexico 1836, and unzipped the mod to the Mexico folder. As I looked through my mod folder the files for the mod were there but not contained. Anyway she is running now and looks pretty good. Played a test on Big Whiskey.

Really pleased you both got it working. I hope you enjoy it.

If the files were there, but not contained, you can slip them into the "Mexico 1836" folder if you wish. Seeing that the mod is already working, it's really just an optional move.
