Hello Gentlemen. I'm not sure if anyone remembers me from the pre-release Gettysburg days, but I have just purchased the newest game in the series and thought I would inquire as to how the old gang was doing.
Norb: The last time I spoke with you, the Gettysburg game had just released and you were finishing last-minute patching, while considering taking the family on a small well-deserved vacation. I hope you enjoyed your time away and hope everything is well with you.
It will take me awhile to get back in the swing of things, and up to snuff on the advancements to the original game engine, but I look forward to interacting with you guys in the near future and maybe even trying out the multiplayer game, since I did not get a chance to play it before.
Well, once again; "hello" from Kentucky, and hopefully I will see some of you on the battlefield soon.

I will be hanging out here a bit more. The past two years I have worked around 700 12-hour days retooling the assembly plant I work at. I am an industrial electrician at an automotive plant. I paid off quite a few loans/bills, but I lost 2 years of fun with a few of my hobbies . . like this!

The good thing is I no longer am beholden to overtime and have cut back substantially.
I just printed out the manual and will be perusing it to try and remember all those commands I have forgotten.

Welcome back again Sir.
Lots of things have changed, register and install the latest patch, 1.5, through Matrix games, your reg codes are good to go for re-installation. Don't worry about activation procedures, DRM is gone with 1.5, reg codes initially are all that are needed.

Thank you sir! I was also wondering, what I need to re-download my original Gettysburg game again, since I now have a shiny new PC to play it on. Though, I am sure the new game will keep me busy.

I said latest patch, I erred. However, follow the procedure I stated, for 1.5 MUST be installed through Matrix games before you can install and apply the true latest patch, 1.6, which is still considered Beta. A new PC is perfect for a fresh install.

I have installed the 1.5 patch from the matrix site, so where do I get the 1.6? From the same site? I didn't see mention of it there.

It is a beta patch, offered by NSD (not matrix) that will eventually turn to matrix once it goes final.

I downloaded the 1.6 patch and when I get the first courier message the game goes black on me now.

I should have quite while I was ahead. How do I uninstall the 1.6 patch? I tried installing the 1.5 again, but it still shows as 1.6 in game.
Thanks for the help

This is odd, unless you started a scenario that begins at night.
Please elaborate and attach your SOWGB.log file found in your work folder.
Also, did you crash?
