Notes about the 1.6 Patch

No, it's not out yet, but very soon we will release SOWGB 1.6 which will cover SOWGB and the three map packs. We will follow that up with a patch for SOWCV Standalone.

You MUST have 1.5 installed or the patch will not work. Up until this point all of our patches were all inclusive. But now we want to get everyone on the same page, so you have to install 1.5 first and this patch will only contain changes since 1.5, if you do not have it, the patch install will fail.

This patch will be released as a beta. We do this because we want to release it here without waiting for our publisher to get it up. When they get it up it will be official. We do not anticipate any changes between this patch and the one to come in the future from our publisher.

Hi Norb.

I am wondering is there enough changes in this patch that would require modders to revamp their already existing mods?

Cheers Norb.

Just wait and see. That would depend on whether any specific thing a mod changes was also changed in the patch.

That is a tough one. I do not think there were any major changes that would require rewrites. I expect that RebBugler would know because he is always making sure to keep his mods up to date. This mod opens up some csv files to MP modding and also fixes some well known bugs that have been plaguing us.

Case in point, so we are all ready to go, release candidate is ready. Final testing is in place. Then while testing the map pack, we get a great saved game of the ever dying officer bug. We just cannot let that one get by us since we now had a repeatable saved game. It was a very easy low risk fix. So we rebuilt and started over :) We are still afraid of shipping this and then finding another bug in our map pack testing. But in that case, and in the case that someone here finds something glaring, we will make sure it makes it into the publisher release.

Question - Did any AI-Fixes make it into this patch?

Thanks,

It depends on what you mean by AI-Fixes. There were no major changes to the AI, just small tweaks for courier issues etc. Work was also done on the Cavalry to prepare for the next map pack. Any significant change to the AI would be a big undertaking. The game engine has been out for three years; it's time to wrap this puppy up and move on to the next venture.. :)

Understandable !

It was nothing major that I was speaking of, just a few minor issues.

I'm glad to see that the game is still moving forward towards the next project!

Thanks, for the reply!

There was one big (ish) change - not sure if it's Ai or gameplay related - I think it will be very popular ;)

Hopefully, regiments will no longer retreat toward and into enemy lines and the los problem of downhill stacking will be addressed.

That's two changes - I only said one!

You'll just have to wait and see :)
