I just finished a sandbox game. When I reviewed the final unit casualty numbers, I noticed that several captured artillery batteries were listed as "peers" in one of my battery's numerical gun-by-gun breakdown.

My battery's guns ran up a score of 78.3. The captured batteries showed a total score of -99.0. Instead of getting the positive score, my battery was credited with a net score of -20.7.

Is this how the system treats captured guns? No complaint. I just would like to know if this is the intention.

I'm playing with the 1.5 version update.

First, welcome to the forum. The most usual case for captured guns getting a negative value is because after capture, they are fired upon, suffer casualties and route from the field. This nearly always happens when one or two guns of an enemy battery are captured and the uncaptured guns turn and fire on their wayward kin.

To minimize this occurrence, immediately after capture, TC the gun, attach it to its new battery and move it towards your own lines. Get it out of harms way as quickly as possible. Once it is safe, un-TC it so the new battery commander can take charge.

I also failed to check "balanced forces" in my sandbox game. I couldn't figure out where all those confederates were coming from. Luckily, I had the high ground and open fields of fire for my batteries. It was still nip and tuck though.
