So there we go. What I was doing wrong is I was registering it twice, once for 1.4 and once for 1.5. This time I downloaded the demo, then did 1.5 and one register, and everything shows up.

On the other hand, does anyone know how to mod artillery ranges?

There still isn't an 'Activate' or 'Deactivate' button on the start screen, though.

This is normal, as there is no more Activate/Deactivate needed .....
