No problem installing patch 1.5

With all the posts from people with problems installing the patch, and even having to deactivate before installing the patch, I thought I would cheer up the game team by posting that I installed the patch without any problems.

I downloaded the patch from the Matrix website, didn't deactivate the game before patching, and the game seems to run fine. When the game starts up, it indicates SowGB 1.5001.

The 1.5 patch readme says that the "Water has been enhanced in the game maps". But the creek at Burnsides Bridge still looks like an unrealistic smear of brown excrement across the landscape rather than a creek with water in it. Hopefully you can continue working on the water enhancement.

I also downloaded the Patch, except I downloaded it from this Site, Installed without deactivating the game, and all appears to be working correctly!

Excellent going to all that were involved in working and testing on this patch and the new features!

EDIT Post

After reading about the problems that some are having I'll also mention that the Install went without a problem with the Vista Operating System - perhaps the problem has something to do with which version of Windows that you have Installed.

Hi folks.

Using Windows 7. Downloaded the patch that Norb posted on the forum, not the Matrix patch.

The patch required that I enter the activation code for Gettysburg, then Pipe Creek, then Antietam. Once I did this the update installed fine.

I now have two Gettysburg game icons on my desk top. One is a Union kepi hat that when clicked brings up a screen that allows you to launch the game, read the manual or link up to the matrix/slitherine forums.

The other icon is the Union slouch hat from the previous version of the game. That gets you straight into the updated game.

Games seems to work fine, but I only briefly sampled one scenario.

Looking forward to Chancellorsville.

Regards, CJ

The installation process worked fine for me as well. I did need my previous codes (all three), which I had to hunt down in my email, but the system worked like a charm on Windows 7.

Maybe the problems are occuring when people installed their game to non-recommended folders, but I am not the expert.
