I make a decision once every 5 seconds or so, if even that...probly closr 2 every minute.
Wy does the Ai need 50 decisions per second?? Can i increase per4mance by lowering that??

You're referring to your conscious decisions. The micro 'decisions' taken by your brain and nervous system are, I guess in the thousands (millions?) per minute (second?). Automatic, unconscious acts (eg, interpreting what the eye 'sees') take a massive amount of 'processing power'. Hence the limitations of artificial intelligence.
As to the game's AI, it has a massive amount to calculate. For just a taste, see the thread on LoS and whether the game is playing HITS.
I'm assuming you're not joking. Apologies if you were.

No, but for example by substituting
1.08 seconds - enemy not advancing
1.09 seconds - enemy not advancing
as opposed to
1.0 second - enemy not advancing
2.0 second - enemy advancing
What have you lost??

The game's AI is not 'thinking' in terms such as 'enemy advancing'. At least, to be able to think in such terms, it must first make many other calculations.
For example, what can be 'seen' by a given unit, in 360 degrees. This alone must requires a large number of calculations.
There must be good sources of info on the web about cognition, AI etc etc, and on gaming AI, but I'm afraid it's 30 years since I studied AI.

By increasing the "aicount" variable you are giving the AI more time to make decisions. One of the huge benefits we have found in the HITS group is that raising the AI count to around 55 or 60 makes it much more aggressive and seemingly clever such that it can and sometimes does become more difficult to beat than human players.
I don't think increasing this number has any effect on the games speed, stability or load on your CPU.

Because the AI is a far better general than you.
