World War II Online Goes Free To Play!

Post by Flanyboy »

One of the more realistic FPS' World War II Online (Battleground Europe) recently went free to play. The game is a MMOG that has been around forever and never really the gained the traction it deserved. The map alone was worth the subscription for me. Where else do you fight out a campaign against all human players on a 1/2 scale map of all of northern and eastern France, Holland, Belgium, and the Rhine river valley? Anyway I found a video of the F2P element of the game. Definitely worth checking out for anyone interested in a different type of MMOG or FPS.

It's another one of those games from another era of PC games.

If anyone does play, my nick is Mikesla. If you see me online shoot to kill!

I always play British simply because I'm Canadian.

See you online... Now I'm off to try to figure out this beast.

See you on the battlefield.

hey mick.
thanks for putting this up.i played bf2 online for a while but gave it up because of the ridiculous cheating that went on.
id spawn somewhere and the aimbots would wipe me out before i'd even hit the w key.
whats this game like for such shenannigens? i quite like the idea of a more accurate game and ww2 is one of my favourite periods.
im not into subscriptions (the missus would kill me!) so if its ftp i might be interested. cheers

Haaaaa, thank Flanyboy, I only carry the ball down to the goal line. :S

I know what you mean. But this online game hasn't shown any signs of aimbots being used. Believe me I can spot cheat programs from a mile away.

If you ever have the time join in, my nick is Mikesla. Expect to change your persona (not your Nick) from time to time because of the amount of campaign missions change from one minute to the next. It would be cool to have folks from SOWgb playing so we can create our own squads, and put a beating on the enemy.

It would be cool to see you online redcoat. So far I have been playing it allot, and I haven't come across any bad people (there will always be some out there). The Sysops are very tough in enforcing the rules so children don't go about screwing around with it. Also which is a big plus the people online are very helpful, and always willing to answer your questions.

I give the online community for Battleground Europe a 8 out of 10.

Time to get my arse kicked.

we're into anything thats fun, which is why we stopped playing bf2 and quakewars online as it was full of cheats and idiots who thought they were real soldiers.as most of us are ex services we dont put up with crap like that.

we like to roleplay our gaming to a degree, but not get silly about it.
put it like this, one of our favorite war films is kellys heroes and thats how we like to play!
that make any sense? cheers

Cool. Send a holler if you get online. Be nice to play with someone who has the same ideals where MP is concerned. I use to play "Ace of Spades", and I just can't stomach the idiots playing that game. The sizeable portion of the players act like bratty little kids. Kind of sick of them, and their behavior.

It's refreshing to play a online game like this, and not have to worry about dealing with whiners, and those who have tantrums because they can't stand losing.

OH one more thing. Here is the Teamspeak server for this online game. Rather interesting listening in.
