Repeatable game crash in demo

Hi

I have recently downloaded the demo off your site, as I am very interested in purchasing the game, but have hit a speed bump.

I am still in the very early stages of the demo, where you have five brigades, one in a skirmish formation and the next instructions is to move the formation 300y through the woods using the "6" key on your keypad. Striking the "6" key does nothing. A look at the help commands advises me to use the "3" key which will then open the command to use the "6" key to move the formation 300y forward. I then strike the "3" and the game crashes.

This crash repeats each and everytime I strike the "3" key on the number pad, regardless of what part of the first demo I am on.

Is this a known issue or am I missing something bleedingly obvious? Any bones thrown my way would be much appreciated.

Hi Yossarian - Welcome onboard!

Just to confirm, tts the keypad on the right of your keyboard you are pressing '3' on?

And make sure you have NumLock on, a small yellow light should appear under the NumLock text on your keyboard when it's on.

Yup, confirming I am using the keypad, and the number-lock light is on. The key is working correctly as typing here and striking the key brings forth a 3.

Try using number 6 on your main keyboard and see if that moves all of your formation forward 300 yards.

After about three crashes (and before posting this thread), I did use the "6" key on the main keyboard and did complete the demo.

My main reason for posting was to make someone aware of this problem as I couldn't see a similar post in the technical section. Is this a known issue or just some quirk of my computer system? The "3" key on the number pad is the key you are meant to use according to the "help" file, and striking this key on my keyboard (in any of the tutorials) will cause the demo to crash on my system 100% of the time.

I've never had a crash on the tutorials, but maybe I skipped that step or just don't remember it.

I'll try it out later on my system and see.

The issue is that we changed the keyboard mapping to allow for people playing on laptops that do not have a separate keypad. Nobody including me remembered that bit in the last part of the drills tutorial. I have updated the tutorial and the fix will be included in the upcoming patch. Thanks for pointing this one out.
