Okay this will be quick.
I had a crash one week ago. Great thing is I have a Drive C, and a Drive D (two separate drives, no partitions).
I lucky installed SOW on my drive D:
I re-installed Windows.
Got all my drivers installed, plus updates for windows.
Loaded the SOW game without re-installing...
Runs perfectly... serial is protected, as well as the game.
So why do I do this?
For the games I REALLY wish to keep intact (as long as my drive D: doesn't break down), I NEVER install them on my C: drive.
So in theory, installing your SOW game on an external drive should work. Not sure on how well it it would run though (if you ask I might try it out for the hell of it).
Saving your SOW installtion.
