If you own a copy of ARMA 2 OA, and have the Dayz Modification, you can join in on my private server. I have been playing this mod for a wee bit now, and I am really enjoying it.

Here is the link to the Dayz Mod: http://dayzmod.com/downloads.php

It's actually one of the best mods out there for Arma 2/OA (Combined Forces). Give it a try if you don't believe me... If I am on, I will help you the best I can.

My Server is "DayZ 1.7.1.5 New Players Server Nova Scotia Canada"

It appears my IP changes. I didn't know that so the first post is pretty much invalid.

If you look on the Arma2 OA servers, you will see my hostname which is...

DayZ 1.7.1.5 Nova Scotia Canada [NO-CDKEY, 94103 BETA, SAVE, VEHICLES]

There is no password to enter so just login. You will require the latest Battleye client, and the latest patch for Arma 2 OA to play.

If you do join the server all I ask is that you have fun, and know that it's all about having a blast. This mod is really something else. It's not like any other mod I have ever played before.

Like I said, I'm not a big fan of MP games, but this one has really made me rethink it.

Cheers.

MAN what a mod this is. I just finished playing 8 hours straight with a few guys on my server....

There is nothing like it.

I made the server private, and the password is 1155 if you are wanting to join in.

I can write a book on what went on today. Man this is so much fun!

Later!

This does sound fun. So the game uses the free 1st person very realistic ARMA2 engine and the DAYZ mod is a post-apocalyptic zombie survival setting? And its co-op play of teams of survivors vs the zombies, is that right?

Yes...

ARAMA 2, and ARMA 2OA is required to play the mod.

Best mod I have played in a very long time.

Bloody hell this is hard!

I'm on my 4th character now. #1 and #3 died without ever finding a weapon, and #1 never found anything to eat or drink either!

#3 found some water and butched a cow for some steaks but then two twats shot him while he was scavenging. I guess that's PvP FPS gamers for you ;)

#2 found a pistol but was overwhelmed trying to scavenge in an army field hospital and eaten alive. Let me tell you that the sound effects are... very realistic :(

My 4th guy has:

1) water (and knows a nearby safe water source)
2) food (and a knife to skin and get meat from killed animals)
3) a fire
4) a reasonably secure structure where equipment spawns

and finally

5) a half-decent gun.

Things are looking up!

But when you only have 1 clip of ammo, you just don't go shooting zombies, its still all about playing hide and seek with them. Lots of fun. I like the persistent world idea so you spawn back in at the same location you left, with aall your equipment and injuries, regardless of what server you are on, very neat.

If anyone wants to play this and have some co-op fun, drop me a PM.

Mike, still haven't see your server yet, I suspect my ping to it will be too low.

Haaaaa, your totally right, it's all about stealth. Stealth is a major component to this game along with having to work together as a team to survive.

Okay just to let you know, since you need another person to give a blood transfusion which most of the time can be a real pain in the arse especially when you can't trust to many people out there who are looking for a quick kill, and take your hard earned gear, here is what you must do to regain that much needed blood.

Also take note, if you come across any antibiotics KEEP IT (these are VERY RARE), these are very valuable since you can pick up a disease. You will know when you do, the signs are there such as coughing which gets worse, along with other signs. If your infection gets too bad, you will start loosing blood, so best thing to do is if you are infected, visit hospitals, army medical tents (I found most of mine in Cherno). But there are occasions that you can pick them up almost anywhere, so check out every building that you can enter.

Okay how to regain blood when there is no one around to help you out.

You will have to find a knife, then some wood, matches.

If you see an animal, kill it without alarming the zombies, if they hear a shot believe me they will come so make sure it's in a field away from zombies. I use a hatchet if there are zombies nearby just so I can keep things quite.

Use a hatchet for quite kills (if you have one), if not use your gun because the hunting knife can not be used to kill it's only used to gut the animal.

After you kill the animal, go up to the carcass, and gut it, then take the meat.

Click on the matches in your inventory, and create a fireplace (campfire).

Go up to the campfire you made, and scroll your middle mouse button, and select start fire.

Stay at the camp fire, and when an icon shows up saying cook meat, push your middle mouse button to start cooking the meat.

Once the meat is cooked, open your gear while standing over the fire, and take the meat.

This meat does two things now, it will help you when you need to eat, but the MOST IMPORTANT thing it does is allow you to restore your blood level which is most important. It will restore up to 800 blood.

I suggest that you keep at least 2 on you at all times. There are other things you will need to know about the game, but you will find out soon enough.

I suggest one more thing, if you come across a tent, make sure you you start your own campsite away from anyone else, somewhere where it is safe. You can store all the gear you come across in that tent. If someone else comes across that tent, you can kiss your gear goodbye, and your tent.

Handguns are a must, okay there are three types that I have used.

The marakov, M1911, and the revolver.

There is plenty of ammo for the Marakov so you shouldn't have any problems there.

The M1911 ammo can be a pain to come by.

The revolver is what I use because it uses .45 ammo, and you can also convert over the ammo of the M1911 to your revolver (just right click on the m1911 ammo, and you can select convert to .45). This revolver is a very powerful weapon, one shot, one kill!

Now for the Zombies. Ever watch "The Walking Dead"? These zombies react the very same way, and are very dangerous. Any noise can alert them to your presence. So apply all the principles of the The Walking Dead series, and you will live allot longer.

I had to learn all of these things on my own which pretty much tells you I died more often than not.

Update: Use Morphine to fix broken bones. Breaking a bone is a big pain in the arse since you can only crawl until you repair the broken bone.

Now I'm one heck of a killer of Zombies, and other players...

Oh, yeah my server. Your ping will be fine, no problems there saddletank. It's not up all that often. I normally have it up with I need my fix, and I made it for the new person playing the game, and also for those who get that real crappy battleye invalid GUID which happens allot with dayz, and the new beta patches that come out daily which is why I made sure I don't use battleye (not a safe way to go, mind you people can cheat, but personally I don't care, it's all about having fun, and learning the in's, and out's of the game before heading out to larger servers).

Just look for DayZ 1.7.1.5 New Players Server Nova Scotia Canada (if I have it running).

Stay safe, and happy hunting...Remember, it's all about being self sufficient. Learn to hunt, forage, and kill when you need too, and how to get out of some very deadly situations if you get swarmed. Also remember, Zombies can climb ladders just in case you are thinking your safe way up high.

Also, Dayz/Battleye are very touchy servers. There are many people out there that got globally banned because of glitches with battleye which pretty much means you are banned from all dayz servers, so never use cheats while playing.

Update #2: Just a FYI, if you come across a hospital, break the glass, and once you are inside, zombies cannot enter. If they do happen along, and start wanting to kill you, stay inside, and pick them off one by one. using a hatchet for the job is the best way since you can kill the zombies which are there silently, it will not alert other zombies in the area.
