SANDBOX BATTLES

Hey gents, I am having issues with the sandbox battles. I can never get them to work correctly. I either go up agains an entire enemy army of artillery or they AI Army just moves away from me.

I pick a Brigade or Division battle, Attack option with line of sight. My Brigade moves and goes up against three batteries  Not sure why. Or a division battle will be agains all cav and arty. Or it will be a even force but never fight. Am I diong something wrong?

I’m not sure if this is going to be any help to you, but here goes!

I play with the following settings:

Army vs Army
Hunt them down
Balance Forces – checked

And then use a Custom OOB which will detail which units appear in both armies.

So – try picking a different OOB that doesn’t have that much artillery, and use the
Balance Forces option.

BTW – what you are describing was reported on the forums a long time ago, haven’t heard that much on the subject since then.

BB,

As DaV said, checking the "Balanced Forces" button will be the biggest help to you in a sandbox action, either "Line of Sight" or "Hunt them down." Also, try choosing "Corps vs. Corps" size actions. You'll definitely get fewer arty units on the field, since I don't think there are any Artillery Corps in any of the OOBs.

Jack – didn’t the Balance Forces option come into effect due to the problems that people were having in the past with un-balanced forces that Bloody Bill is reporting?

It seems that I vaguely remember this subject, but I’m not sure!
