Could anybody recommed me some napoleonic wargames?
Specially I´d like something like SoW or Take Command, but I guess the only examples are The Breakaway titles and Histwar perhaps? and I am not very convinced about this last one...
So, any could recomend me some good quality nap wargames to involve myself in the battle sounds?
Greetings.

The Napoleonic Mod for this game and Histwar are the only things worth looking at.
Histwar is... an acquired taste. Weaker graphics than SoW but more thorough gameplay that is designed for that period. Units tend to look very small, almost like miniatures wargame units.

Tank,
I like that - "an acquired taste." Yes, that sums up HistWar nicely.

I keep coming back to the demo of histwar in the hope that i find something new that ive been missing. I just dont rate the demo at all and therefore not willing to fork out the large sum for the game. It should be great but somehow it just doesnt work for me and im a huge napoleonic fan. It is worth having a go to make your own mind up.

So, as I guessed, few titles out there. The mod in SoW will be maybe the hope for a simulation of the period.
I tried the demo of HistWar but It not convinced me at all. Graphics looks good for me. Enough. I consider the interface an horror and the gameplay confuse... I´ll give another try. The Battleground is massive and I want to like it.
Some advices with that game?
Greetings!

Guda,
No advice for you, I'm afraid. I came to almost the same conclusion you did about HistWar. I wanted to like it, but no. Try the NapMod and see. It's not perfect but it can give the flavor of Napoleonic conflict. Just remember -
1) Infantry Squares are pretty much for show. The AI doesn't use them,

AND they can be broken if they get hit enough. I like them for the "coolness" factor. Also, always TC them. This keeps them from constantly trying to face the flag towards what they are trying to shoot at. (They don't have flanks, but are reacting as if they do.)
2) Another thing is you might want to reduce the average musket range to 100 yards, but keep the skirmisher muskets at 120 or so. Gives the skirmishers a slight advantage which they would have had.
3) One more thing - Cavalry can be devastating in the NapMod games, and there can be a lot of it. Always keep your eyes peeled for them. They charge, break and rally constantly so if they bug out for some reason, they may come back unexpectedly.

Ok Thanks.
Then I hope the Nap Mod to be full of features in a future. In fact now is very cool! I can say the start screen is very professional and the sprites full of color and detail. And It gives the flavor in battle. I guess the specific nap gameplay modding depends a lot about the freedom of the mod tool or the hardcoded features in engine.
Greetings

Guda,
You can thank Gunship24 for most of this. He is F-ing brilliant. My contributions are mainly to spout nonsense and get in the way. Glad you like it though.

hey jack, take a bow. If it wasn't for your tireless work on OOB's, and a few other things we wouldn't seen this conversion expand... so take a bow Sir Jack, you deserve it!
