Preserving progress and scores on a new system

Hi there --

I am going to be replacing my existing hard drive with a new model in the next few weeks. I want to preserve the progress and scores that I have accumulated thus far when I reinstall the game on the new drive. I do a weekly backup of the hard drive, and I wanted to know what file(s) and/or directory(ies) do I need to restore in order to continue where I left off.

Also, prior to my installing the new hard drive, I will deactivate the existing game, and then activate it on the new drive. Is there anything in particular that needs to be done in that regard, or is it simply clicking on the appropriate link on the title screen?

Thanks.

You need to deactivate your old installation and make note of your reg code. If you use the uninstal.exe located in the SOW directory it will save your Mods, saved games, high scores etc. After the uninstall you'll be left with the ...\Work folder and the ...\Mods folder. You can just copy the CONTENTS of those folders, not the whole folder, to your new installation and you'll be good to go. No need to restore from backup.

I went through the steps that were outlined in your post, but after I put the contents of the folders in question back in place, the progress that I wanted to preserve did not appear. The scores that I have accumulated are not showing in the progress screen. What else do I need to do here?

If you copied the contents of your previous Work folder into your new one, that should do it.

Hi there --

I tried it again, and this time it worked. I am not sure what happened last time.
