Map Editor, Could it be something like this?

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Forgive my ignorance. What would the Menu Items be for? Are they design elements or in-game commands? I'm interested in anything which improves the Map.

Hi born2see.

Ignorance can be bliss, and nothing to forgive. I live most of my life in the foggy world of Ignorance :)

Both. You have to remember that it would only allow you to create a scenario. The graphics is an example only of what I see in my head if an editor was ever to be created. You can also be allowed to stop a scenario in progress, freeze it, and edit it, save it, and play it. This is just an example. I mean the features eventually would be far more extensive, and more powerful.

The whole point is ease of use.

I don't know. While I was eating my breakfast, this popped into my head as a possibility.

Cheers...

From what I can tell that's not the only time ideas pop into your head. ;)

Now I see. Good idea. As always, can it be implemented? I know Davinci and others have been struggling with the Map Zoom feature.

It's funny where things will come from. Don't ask what comes to mind when I'm on the dumper.
I know Davinci and others have been struggling with the Map Zoom feature.
It would exceed the zoom in feature by a factor of a 1000 (it would also have the ability to zoom in for finer troop placement). The way I see it, if it's an internal editor, the code would have to be rewritten, and to tell you the truth I have no idea what type of headaches this would give Norb, and the team, but I'm sure at the end they would loath the nickname Mikesla.

If this was going to be taken on, it would most likely be coded as an outside util only. I am also pretty sure that having the ability to freeze the game while playing, editing it without restarting the game is not possible, but then again I'm not a coder, so it's easy for me to say put this here, place that there, because like I said, ignorance is bliss, and Norbs the king here.

Okay another thought just came to me here. If this was a outside util a way to test out the different stages of the scenario design, having a run option in the util which would compile, and load the game via a commandline. where you wouldn't have to save, run the game, load the scenario, exit, go back to the util, redit, and so on, and on. Having the ability to run directly from a commandline who get rid of having to do that.

Hmmmm...more thinking going on here.
