Future Suggestion...Oh no it's starting again... :)

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Hi.

I haven't my hands on the next patch, and I'm already asking for more....

Well I was just thinking about how cool it would be to be able to preselect your starting position in battle, for example.

I choose the size of the battle, and the OOB as normal, now just when the game is about too begin, and all the graphics are loaded a map appears, and if I am commanding the entire army I would be able to place all of the troops wherever I wish them to start, and if I was commanding only a brigade, I would only be able to place my starting position for my brigade etc, etc. Once I have done that then I press start, and the game begins....

Just a thought... Not much of a thought, but still a thought... :)

Later!

I'm with you brother, unless you a damn Yankee....

I have said before that if the Norbies could make scenario design similiar to the HPS, this game would be the greatest. Another issue, in Sandbox, there is no time to organize your troops before the fighting begins (too closse) and really, when was the last time you saw troops waiting so nice in line for battle, and at that, they are not organized correctly.

The AI in this game is the best I've come across, the graphics are great, and Army Control is ok once you have the hang of it.

In my opinion, and comparing this gaame to the editing features that TalonSoft, HPS went to market with, this game was release too quickly. Perhaps $$$$ was needed. However, have I got my money's worth, even paying the $43.00 or so, that is, comparing the entertainment valve (dollar spent per hour played) the answer is yes.

But the game should have been close to perfection before release. If the Norbies come out with another game, would I buy it, of course I would because I like these games, but if the editing and other noted complaints aren't resolved for Gettysburg first, and left unattented to, then we know it's the $$$$ that matters.

Reb,

If you want to screw up those nice lines of battle, throw in the Fog Mod that DaVinci and I developed. I mow have mods for all the maps currently available. Be happy to sent them to you.

Example: Fought a savage Line-of-sight, No Objs battle the other night in SP. Used a modified G'Burg 2nd. Day OOB as J.B. Hood. Great fighting, surprised constantly by Yankees moving in and out of the Fog and completely oblivious to what was happening on down the line. Finally looked around to find the Federals had smashed a huge hole in the Confederate center (on my right flank), forcing my withdrawl. Outstanding fighting. (Note AI McLaws is a bit too impetuous).

hey Jack I would like the mods for the other maps as well and yes it is incredible to have to think quickly and deal with all the instant surprises from the depth of the fog.

I'm not a Yank, and I'm not a Reb, I just like playing the game. :)

You know it, it would be really something if they can get some kind of scenario maker perhaps in an upcoming release.

Cheers...
