Thank You!

Post by norb »

I know that everyone is anxiously awaiting the feature patch. I just wanted to say thank you and we appreciate your patience. We are taking on a lot in this patch because we know there are lots of areas where the game can be improved. Lots of questions on these boards and some bugs too, we want to address them all. We are full bore development until we're done. There are just a lot of new features, improvements, and fixes. Everyone on the team has their list of must have items and I'm trying to get to them all. I am certainly the bottleneck, but I'm making progress.

I've read some really nice compliments around the web that people have been writing about SOWGB. Thank you! We are word of mouth and we want to see this community grow. It really helps a lot when people other than team members write about the game, we really appreciate it.

Right now I'm working on some courier features and some pathing issues. We are still testing a lot of the modified cavalry AI. Lots of new scenarios in development and the new maps look great. We can't wait to get it in your hands.

Maps, plural, more than one. Outstanding!

Can you tell us if the maps are historic (i.e. expanding the boundaries of the current game battlefield) or generic (such as the Kansas map)?
You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.

Bottleneck would be an excellent username for a member of a dev team!

I'm looking forward most to the vegetation fps improvements, let alone all the gameplay stuff. The last game i bought was silent hunter 5, and the product support/patches were so bad that if you put out a patch that crashed the game repeatedly, you'd still be doing better than them:)

Im very impressed. Keep up the good work!

I can say that at least one of the maps is historic. I'm still working on the fps/vegetation improvements. I believe this is a great upgrade, but there are still issues where it doesn't draw when it should.

Norb – would it cause any disruption in the patch if you had someone on the team list all of the on-going additions that the patch will pertain, and the status of each one.

Such As…

Improved Vegetation (FPS) – pending – almost completed

Improved (AI) Brigade Routines – completed

Authentic Map – completed

New Alpine Map – completed

Supply Wagon – pending

Etc…

This would stir a little bit of excitement on the forums, and give us a general idea about the status of the patch.

Also – Garnier –came up with an excellent idea about adding another map to the game by taking an existing map (i.e.…Alpine), and removing the heights, this brings a whole new approach to fighting on that particular map.

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!
