Hi, I hope this is sufficiently on-topic in this category.
I've got my first Windows PC as of a month ago and am very green. I've used wireless internet access to date, without problem. Now I read somewhere here that this can be risky when playing MP so I have connected my PC to the router via wired connection.
So ... I'm now getting simultaneous LAN and wireless connection to the internet. Is this a good thing?
Any advice gratefully received.

Re: Question re internet access
I don't think it's necessarily good or bad, but it's not necessary. You could technically be using a bit more power and possibly system resources having the machine using both its ethernet (wired internet) card and the wireless card. Most wireless cards (or rather their software) have an option to turn it off (and actually there's a way to do this in in windows as well).
Bottom line is you really don't need both - the main danger with wireless would be weak or no signal, which for this game would sink you (you would drop and couldn't get back in). Wired is safer, so long as your internet doesn't go down; in that case nothing can save you (except single player! :silly: )

Thanks SouthernSteel.
I've switched off the wireless but it seems to bounce back. I'll investigate ways to switch it off and keep it switched off in Windows.

Blau,
You may have to uninstall the wireless software. Assuming you are using Windows of some kind, you can go to control panel, (or whatever they call it this week), and either uninstall it from "Add/Remove Programs," or disable it from the wireless setup directly. Good luck.

Re: Question re internet access
I don’t think that I would try deleting any program from Windows, it would probably just try to reload it, using different drivers, considering that the device is still installed!
Try This;
Right Click on the Icon for your Internet – somewhere near the time \ clock – on the Taskbar.
Choose the – Network Sharing Center
Choose the – Manage Wireless Networks
You will now have the Options of choosing how you want Windows to try to log on the internet by placing the options in a certain order.
This will also give you the option of removing a certain option, without un-installing it!
I can’t really give you a step-by-step – but this should be close!

Blau,
RE: Davinci's post - I agree. That would be the route I was trying to spit out.

Thanks all for your help.
I've switched off wireless now and think I can switch it on again very easily. Strangely, web connections seem slower on wired...
As I say, have had no problems at all with wireless but would hate to crash an MP battle and was made cautious by a mention of possible dangers of wireless.
