Post by Greni »

Hi everyone ,

excuse me the question, im the freshmeat here and i have a question to this fantastic game. Maybe im blind but i miss a way to play the full Gettysburg Battle from the beginning in singleplayer- and/or MP mode.

Or is it possible to see it in the near future ? :)

Welcome to the community!

From what I understand, map size and the ability to place 150,000 troops on the field without a huge amount of lag prevented the NSD team from being able to do the full Gettysburg battle in one scenario. It would be cool to see someday though!
Sorry. I suffer from a serious case of typosis. Don't worry, it's not contagious :)

The problem with the full campaign is that it is nearly impossible to follow any type of history once it starts. Sure, you can place the units, give initial orders, but then it's doubtful if the historical engagements would ensue. It is something that we consider and discuss because we know that many people want it. First we need the map, our maps do not cover the entire battlefield in one, it's pieced together to give more detail and better performance.

I used to play the Avalon Hill game and then the Talonsoft computer game and never be able to play out the game as it was fought. The great thing about those games was the time table when troops would arrive on the field. I would always look for better ways to move troops around. And they would almost always not be as it was in the real battle. Which was great because, in the real battle Lee made some very bad tactical choices, and these games you can correct the errors. My two cents.

I think its not needed to follow all things of the battle correctly. But i think its should be possible to give the command of the arriving brigades to the players/s step by step or?

First we need the map...
Yes, when can we expect it ? B)
