I really want to buy this, but.....

As you can guess from the topics title, I'd really love to buy this game, but there is one thing bugging me. I've been lurking around on the forums for a while now and from just the looks of the forums, the community of this game seems rather small. This isn't actually a bad thing, but of course I was wondering if there are enough players online to play against, especially European players, as I'm german.
Thanks for all answers and to the devs: this really looks like an awesome game. Good work!

PS: I hope I did use the correct sub-forum.

Greeting, Daniel

Hi there,
Im from the Uk so i had the same concerns when i first tried multiplayer, however there is a decent size multiplayer community and its regularly active. The important thing to try to do is to have teamspeak installed on your pc(teamspeak3 is free to download) as this is often where potential Generals to fight with/against are gathering to organise battles etc.Instructions for this are on the main multiplayer section of this forum. You wont know about these potential players just from looking in the SOW lobby as some often wont log in there until a battle has been organised and is about to start.
Well worth reading some of the posts in the Multiplayer section of the forum here as the community will often post there as well to organise/chat/query etc. There are quite a few Europeans here already and i believe several German players. The multiplayer community for this game is very helpful also so feel free to pop by and ask any questions in person. The battles of late have been very large and regular as the community seems to be slowly growing.Hope to see you on the battlefield sir.

+ Your money sir would be well spent on this software as its the finest of its kind available by far and the immersion in the simulator is total.Online or offline it is worth every penny you will spendB)

There are anywhere from 10-20 of us who play online regularly. We have recently picked up 1 german player (and possibly more) and we have maybe 4-5 players from the UK. The rest are from the US, but depending on your schedule, we play games every day without fail, usually around 7 PM EST (which I guess would be 1 AM your time?) The weekends are more open and we play game throughout the day, so you could get one in earlier and have to be a night owl. Still, the community is growing, so I have no doubt we will continue to pick up more players from Europe.

Edit: Ah, solidly beaten by Mr. Cleburne!

Thanks for your answers gentlemen :)
I guess I'm just going to buy it. Seems Multiplayer is fairly alive from what you say. Even if not I'm probably going to have a lot of fun just with the Singleplayer.

Buying this as a christmas gift for myself I guess :P

See you soon on the battlefield

Greetings, Daniel

Looking forward to seeing you on the field. You should join us in Teamspeak in order to get in the MP battles. Folks will help you out with anything you need to get started.

Well I finally bought this game today and I have to say it's totally worth it. Only played the first 4 tutorial missions though. Got my ass kicked by the AI during the Brigade tutorial, but easily won the Division one.

Guess I found my role on the battlefield :D

See you on the MP battlefields once I'm slightly more experienced.

Greetings, Daniel

Since you've found your role, division command, go on ahead and make your division and join us on the field:

We play every evening and sometimes late into the night.

Okay after playing all the tutorials and one or two sandbox matches I have two questions.
I haven't found anything in the manual about the first one yet.

1) Is it somehow possible to kill enemy generals? Or caupture them? Cause in those battles I fought it seemed as if they are not affected by bullets. I know it is possible somehow because in the ending screen of the battle it said "deceased" for some of their generals.

2) Commanding a Corps is huge fun, but also quite hard to do. One question I have here.
I know if you select your commander and then a formation all his subordinates will fall into this formation in division command. Does it work the same when I give this order to a subordinate in Corps command? I mean even for the sub-subordinates (in that case Brigade Generals) under the command of said division general?

So if I tell a Division commander to go somewhere and then choose "line" as formation, will all regiments in the end automatically line up infront of their corresponding superiors?

I hope you understand what I'm actually asking here, because it's quite hard to do in a foreign language :D

Thanks for any upcoming answers !
