Request for Videos from NSD

We have been looking at our current videos out on YouTube and the SOW site and they are old and could be better. We're all working on the patch, so I wanted to ask the community to see if they are interested in giving it a shot. We need footage, or a full blown video with titles, etc. Something that really shows what SOW can do, not the jerky footage that I shot. Just looking at our videos makes me feel that we can do better to draw people to SOW. We may use it as is, we may go through it and just use some footage, we may add our own titles, we'll do what we think needs to be done to make it promote SOW. Take your time, as we've been working on this for a while now.

The best one will probably end up as the main video on the SOW site. All other entries that are of a decent quality will go on our YouTube page.

We use FRAPS for our gaming video needs, they are great over there and have always supported our effort. When you are finished, please PM me and I'll get you some ftp info.

Thank You!

I've done videos for some other games in the past using Growler guncam, which I mainly bought because it worked on games where Fraps didn't work. But if I have growler running, SOW won't start, and if I turn on growler after SOW is running, SOW closes most of the time. There's no message of any kind and nothing in the log so I don't know why. I managed to get one 11-second clip once, not sure why, so perhaps it's possible!

But yeah, if someone does have fraps and makes good videos that would be great.

I've never used growler and have no idea why it wouldn't work. I use windowed mode when I've made videos.

A tip if anyone wants to make movies of MP games:

Save the game regularly while its going, so you have a bunch of saves from different points. Then later, you can set your graphics settings to whatever you want and load the savegame in single player. Take your videos here, where you can pause the game etc. Though avoid pausing anyway because it causes the smoke to fade away entirely.

Now, after loading the game once, you can load any other savegame from that map without reloading the map/graphics, so you can almost instantly switch between savegames. This is what I do for taking screenshots.
