Divisional Tutorial

Post by massimorocca »

Hi from Italy,
I'm new to this game, but I have a good knowledge of the old Take command series. to found differences I'm playing the tutorial. And I found that, after a smooth brigade and artillery tutorial, the divisional left me without any suggestion after the initial message box. I played, and btw won, the battle as Early, so the game lasted for an hour, more or less. Because I'm sure that this cannot be a bug, but a my mistake, where I failed?

No mistake at all. That is the way it was designed.

The expectation is that you would have already completed the infantry brigade tutorial and the artillery battery tutorial. The division in the tutorial consists of the infantry brigades and one artillery battery. So you already know how to handle the individual components. At the division level you learn to coordinate the three components so that they support each other. There were no written manuals during the war describing battle tactics at the division or above level. Each commander learned by experience. The principles are what you have already learned at the lower levels, keep some reinforcements back, support your artillery. How to apply these principles is very situational and really can only be learned by experience. The tutorial is designed to give you the simplest possible experience of division level command.

You might also try reading this AAR. Although it's focus is on the courier system, I tried to give an explanation of why I did the things I did. http://www.norbsoftdev.com/index.php?op ... Itemid=124
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.
