Courier menu query

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Courier menu query

Post by con20or »

I played a game last night, historical difficulty, restricted camera etc, its so immersive but i havent got the hang of it yet. I love the courier options.

For example i gave an order, Gen X, use roads, move your unit to this location.

-Gen X moved by road, but his troops went through the fields. Intentional?

- If you order unit A to form up the the left of unit B, and unit B is in motion, do they follow until unit A reach their destination, then form up to the left, or do they take the location of unit A at the tame they receive the courier and form up there, which could be anywhere.

I was so busy seeing what my troops were doing the yankees were on me.

First, welcome to the world of courier orders. Once you start playing that way and in the saddle, you'll find the AI to be a very good opponent.
That was a bug. It should be fixed in the latest patch. If you still have trouble, download the latest Courier&MiniMap mod, (in the mod section). It has that fixed plus adds a number of other useful commands.

They will form up to the left of the unit wherever they are when the order is received unfortunately. If there are no other farms nearby, I will just order all the units to the same location. Once there, I sort them out. If there is another farm or two nearby, just order each unit to a different location and then reposition them after that first unit has arrived.

Yup. Just like 19th century warfare. :)
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

I hope everyone realises that the the behavier mention in the top post is NOT fixed in the 1.103 patch. I am sending messages by courier and the commander takes the roads and the troops do not. I have to send a seperate courier to him by just clicking on the use road button in the troop oder section at the bottom of the screen. Please comment. The courier messages is the best part of the game.

I just tried the stock courier system and troops use the road without problem. There are now 2 different move menus. The 1st, "Move 1 unit", is for moving just one regiment or the comander alone. The one you want to use is "Move your entire unit." Now the entire brigade, division or corps will use the road system. That's no doubt where the confusion lies. I do agree that the courier system is one of the best parts of this game.

Is this "move your entire unit" on the courier message menu? If so, I must be blind. I am using mods including the modded map and courier menu playing in the sandbox.

I'm missing something as I don't even see what you are talking about. I am not playing stock scenarios. I play sandbox with either Corp or Division size battles and I use quite a few mods including the Couriers & Maps Mod which really improves the game in my view....I click on the envelope icon to send message then use the menu...The "use roads" does not effect regiments when sending an order to a Brigade...just the Commander takes roads...Not the troops. Sorry, frustrated.

Ah, you're using the mod. Yes, I had to update the mod to fix that problem that popped up in one of the patches. You must be using an older version of the mod. Just download the latest version. It's the link in the first post. It's labeled 1.102, but that's the latest version.
