Runtime error

Hey All, Looking for a little help

I've been runing SOW for about 2 months on Windows 7 without any issues. When I attempted to load the game earlier this morning I recieved a Runtime C++ error "this application has requested runtime terminate it in an unusual way" and the program will not load. I rebooted and received the same message, uninstalled and reinstalled the game and received the same message. I was opearting version 1.102.

I am not sure what the cause is as I haven't installed any new programs or deleted any files prior to this. Can anyone help me out and tell me how to resolve this problem?

Thanks!

Were you trying to load a saved game when this error occurred? Or were you just trying to start the game?

This problem is always due to something happening to the game files. Whether it's a virus scanner or some other change.. Re-installing always fixes this problem though, so I'm at a loss why that hasn't fixed it for you.. Have you tried downloading the full installer again and re-installing? No uninstall is necessary.

I get that error message frequently while playing long games on the alpine map. It's an error I started to see after 1.101. However, the autosaves do not capture it. Very fustrating. I'm hoping Fowler2 just happened to get a save as the game was crashing. That would finally give Norb something concrete to look at.

Thanks for the advice guys. I tried reinstalling the whole game again without luck so I deleted the old version completely and then reinstalled the game in a new directory and it loads fine. Now since I was unable to get in to deactivate the old game it won't let me use my activation code on the reinstall so I have an email out to norbsoft to hopefully solve the issue.

Hopefully be up and running soon:blink:

Ahhh that bug. Well I too hope that he's managed to grab a save of it. Which reminds me; I was going to leave a huge battle going on the Alpine map running all night to try and re-create it.

Ah ok, so it wasn't a save game that was crashing.

You should get a response soon to unlock your code, and you'll be back to shooting yankees in no time. ;)

Hey! I resemble that! That error usually occurs after 1-1.5 hrs of game time. I think you may need to have the camera near some fighting to trigger it.
