We are working to put in manual game activation. This will require and little email tag with NSD and it won't be as fast as online activation, but it may be what some people need to purchase.
With this model you will not have to have the computer that the game is installed on connected to the internet.
You will type in your activation code and receive back a user code.
You will email that to NSD.
We will send you back an authorization code.
You will put this in the game and your game will activate.
Deactivate works the same way.
You will receive a deactivate code
You will email that to NSD
We will increment your activation count on the server.
This way you could email us from another computer and it will take longer, but it may allow some people that can't get their box on the net the ability to purchase the game.

Re: Manual Activation
Hi Norb.
I must be brain dead norb so can you explain a little more why I would do this? Is this purely for overcoming activation problems that people who need to contact you for deactivation?
I'm trying to figure it out.
Cheers.

Re: Manual Activation
I was also baffled about this also since we have to test it, so I asked...at grave risk of appearing stupid. :unsure: According to Norb, some folks hesitate to buy the game simply because they must be connected to the internet when deactivating and activating. Manual Activation will be an OPTION for those folks. It will take longer, and they will still need to use email to retain the manual codes.
OK Norb? Maybe I'll get credit enough to cancel out my 'large attachment' goof.

Re: Manual Activation
Sounds good reb.
Here's an example for you.
Let's say you are a soldier in Iraq and you got the demo earlier, but now want to buy it for your deployment, but you can't get internet access.
So you call your home, and they buy it for you. They tell you the activation code over the phone. So you put that in and you get back a user code. You tell them the user code over the phone. They send that to us and they get back and authorization code. They tell you the authorization code over the phone and you put that in and your game is activated. All without ever connecting your computer to the internet!
Game <- Activation Code
Game -> User Code
NSD <- User Code
NSD -> Authorization Code
Game <- Authorization Code
ACTIVATED!
