Moving a brigade formation errors...

I had a quick question regarding the movement of brigades while in battle. Now, this doesn't happen all of the time but it does happen to me occasionally.

Lets say I am moving a brigade in line of battle in the direction of the enemy, when I click the direction to move in, the brigade for some reason decides to reverse sides.

What I mean is that the right most regiment will go to the left, and the left most regiment will go to the right side and vice-versa. The same goes for the interior regiments. They wont just advance in the given formation, they cross each other up and sometimes end up meeting the enemy in this precarious position, all bunched up together.

What causes this?

Again, this doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally. Most of the time things work the way they are supposed to but I was just wondering if it was something that I was doing that was causing this to happen.

I think that when you detach some of the regiments, and then re-attach them, it would change the formation, but I haven’t seen what you are describing under normal circumstances.

Have any of the regiments been detached since moving them?

Could you have moved them individually around, and then when you gave the Brigade command they tried to reform to their original place in line?

It's like Davinci explained, when a regiment is omitted, TC, detach, rout, the formation changes it's numbering scheme to adjust for the missing unit. Depending on the replaced number of the missing unit, some changes of units are extreme, as in this case mentioned...a mirror reversal.

Hopefully, as this game evolves, a more intuitive formation numbering system will emerge. Thanks, you have a nice way of complaining, feel free to continue, as we all work to improve this game. :)

If by chance you placed them to face the enemy 180 deg. then the right would go to the left as you are discribing. To stop that just click on the U-Turn button (its what I like to call it) it is the U shaped arrow that will make them about face and do a 180 then they should be fine to march forwad without swapping right to left.
Hope this helps.

No, its actually just odd what happens. I notice it sometimes under the worst of circumstances (advancing toward an enemy). I didn't even change the direction at all, maybe 10 degress, who knows, but either way, regiments crossing up one another can make for a difficult day.

Either way, no big deal, just wondering if there was a reason this was happening. Again, if it happened all the time, then its a problem, but it doesn't, just occasionally.

Excellent game guys, I have recommended it to over a dozen people, most bought it.

Keep up the good work.

Unfortunately no. I wish it were that simple.

Ok ,I think that is what we lovingly call the snake dance. I does happen sometimes when you move them and it possibly is the terrain they are on. I just sit and watch them do it. My men seem to not take on damage while doing it so I have gotten used to them. Maybe it is fixiable, I am sure NorbSoftDev will fix it if it is fixable.
