How do I do this (Courier)

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Hi.

I was playing a mp game earlier this evening, and the host made it only courier, meaning when you told your troops to move(once you tap the ground a courier was sent), they had to wait for the courier to arrive.

I have been trying to duplicate this but can't. I really liked using it, found it very interesting, but how do you get it to work? I have played with the settings but when I tap on a location for my troops to move too, or any order for that matter it happens instantly which I don't want. I think the courier is the best way to play this game, and most likely will play that way from now on, it's just more realistic.

Anyway, any help will be appreciated.

Change the "Orders by Courier at this Command Level and Above" option.

Hi Adukes.

I've done that, and it didn't seem to work. What is the command radius before a courier is actually sent?

I'll give it another go, thanks Adukes.

Mike,

JJ said to set the HITS (HQ in the Saddle) to zero. That would be the camera, so it stays locked on the unit or commander in question.

Hi again

Okay I got it too work, but there is one thing that is bothering me about this.

When I give a global command the commands are immediately understood, and executed, but on the individual regiment commands, a courier is sent. Why are couriers only sent for individual, and not global?

You would think it would be for both.

Thanks again for all of your help, as always you guys are great!

I'm not sure what you mean by global command, but a courier is always sent from the player to the recipient. If you order a brigade commander to move his troops, he receives his orders via courier, and then orders his regiments to their assigned location. If the player wants to move the regiments individually, he must send a courier to each regiment.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Hi.

What I mean is, if I have command of a Brigade (Brigade level game), and if my commander is selected my orders are executed immediately for the entire brigade (such as a column command for example, and is what I meant of a command being global). If I tell individual troops to execute an order, then my commander (me) sends out a courier.

Perhaps I'm missing something here.

Mikesla,

I will be glad to show you how to use courriers if you like. I feel responceable because I am the one who showed you how great they are to the realism of the game. I love to use them and will be more then happy to show you and any others how to opperate their games that way. See you in the lobby sir.
