Closing up file ranks unit modification

Is there any way to close up the file ranks meaning make the troops stand closer together (shoulder to shoulder)? Also, is there a way to darken the blue used in the federal uniforms from navy blue to a midnight blue? Or just a deep blue, because I believe that the darker blue will provide a more realistic distant view of federal troops.

Sure, but this would require some type of program such as...Photoshop.

If you want to represent troops on parade ground ( as apposed to ones who had been marching in dust for a few weeks LOL ) I suppose you could use photoshop to darken a bit. Our aim was to make non-"toy soldier" sprites.
The spacing has been tightened up from previouse games and altering this would change the scale and footprint of a brigade I believe. I'll let others weigh in on that.

I think the darker blue would look good even though it wouldn't simulate marching around in the dust all day. Still, the dust wouldn't "brighten up" the uniform to what it is right now, it would make it look faded. If you look at civil war reenactment photos, the blue worn by the federals was almost black looking, it was that dark. Dusting it up would make it look slightly less black. However, I still think the darker blue would enhance the image of the federal troops. The rag tag look on the confederates again, could be anything you want it to be. Striped shirt, plaid shirt, "no shirt" haha....anything. Anyways, I'll try to work on something.

I'm not sure reenactment uniforms are really campaign faded.
I remember reading the red wool of the British in the penninsula became actually pink on campaign.
......also, remember, all things fade in the distance.
But the long and short of it is, the game can be made whatever reality you subscribe to

Depends upon the material and type of dye as to whether or not reenactment uniforms are faded, as well as how much they have been in the sunlight. The more authentic Confederate uniforms using logwood dye actually fade quite rapidly, whereas the more traditional dyes take quite a bit longer. I have an English Kersey jacket that I have used for years with little fading, where as my logwood dyed trousers have the original color where the components haven't been exposed to the sun.

There is a
darker union uniform – that was included with this
mod – the mod really didn’t run too well, but you should be able to extract the uniform.
It’s one of the default uniforms that I used with the mixed rag tag look.
It’s at the bottom of the page.
