Can't use mods!

i have tried everything every guide has told me and still nothing they just dont work! i have activated them and still nothing plz help!

Dumb questions but...
You see the mod on the Modifications screen, you then double click on the mod and a yellow square pops-up beside it, you click the check mark button and if you go back to the Modifications Screen again, the mod still has the yellow square next to it? If yes, it sounds as if the mod folders are misnamed or not in proper order. List the mod folder structure and folder names you have. That's almost always where the mistake is located.
Oh, sorry, another dumb question; your not trying to use the mods in the historic scenarios or MP, are you? They only work in sandbox mode.
