As I observe my infantry sprites seemingly fire at the exposed portions of enemy regiments (e.g. falling casualties are located at an exposed flank of an enemy regiment), I have been wondering if this is purely a graphics’ simulation or if the casualty points from my fire is being reduced when my line of fire looks like it is partially blocked by such things as friendly regiments (red head icon is not showing), trees, boulders (especially big Devil Den type), buildings, ground depressions/elevations, etc.
If I am not maximising casualty points when I fire only at the exposed end of an enemy regiment partially hidden behind a building for example, is my accumulating point total calculated by varying degrees dependent upon how much of the enemy is actually exposed?
Or, is all this my imagination and all casualty calculations are based on purely whether my regiment’s flag is able to clearly see the targeted enemy’s flag?
Are Firing Casualty Points Modeled Differently Around Obstructions?

Thinking back to TC2M, I do think buildings can impede LOS

Hmmm .... not much interest I see. I'll try asking the question this way.
If the enemy's flag is obviously concealed by an obstruction (e.g. building), but my regiment has no LOS impediment displayed( i.e. no Target Blocked icon) and my sprites are firing, will I receive full or partial points for the casualties I cause?

Yes, effective fire can be partially blocked. Watch your smoke, that shows what units cannot engage because of being blocked or out of range (happens a lot at 159 yards).
Of course in the Canadian version of the game, they're not really being blocked, they're just staying neutral.
