Norm, I just put a GT 240 1024MB DDR3 video card in my machine and I still barely get double digit frame rates with this game. Is there any additional config tweaks you guys could give us to play with to up the frame rate just a little?

What are the rest of your machine's specs? There could be something else slowing you down. I've never played the game with a video card that fast, but I do know that even the fastest machines will still take a frame rate hit on the large scenarios with their graphic options set high. Especially pre beta patch 3.

I would imagine a new CPU would make more a difference than a new video card.....depending on your original care it course

Intel dual core 6600 @ 2.4GHZ, 2GB ram. Not cutting edge but certainly not obsolescent.

Yeah that might be the weak link in your system, especially the ram. But still
plenty fast enough for this game. So again, you may need to scale the graphic settings back a little on the big scenarios. With maxed out graphic settings, even the fastest machines will get single digit frames on the Pickett's Charge scenarios, or large forces in Sandbox. Remember that trees and site distance are the big killers.

Hi Sweeney
My HP Pavillion 5000 + Dual Core @ 2.60 GHz came with 2 Gig. I purchased 2 more Gig, total of 4 Gig, from Crucial.com (cost $73.00 with tax & shipping) and now my FPS is very good (14 +) even during MultiPlayer. Single Player is much better. I running Vista OS and have also shutdown some of the processes that are not needed.
As Little Powell suggested, check out the "Options" at the Game Menu, maybe adjust some of them ... I set my "% Showing Trees from 100% to 75%.
In the manual, starting on page 45, it explains these options and also tells you which ones are the heavy performance hitters, and those you can try different settings.

I would also suggest more RAM, as per Chamberlain. Windows itself takes up around a Gig. Should help IMO.
