Runtimer Error and SOW - Problems

Just today, I've recieved this error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: (SOW Directory) - Where the program is
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application support team, (etc).
I've played the game yesterday, and no problem.
However, I like to keep current on updates for software, and I updated my Adobe Flash Player. But I wouldn't expect it to be a problem...
If there is a way to keep both SOW and the Flash Player update, I would be very happy.

Could be your virus scanner. Check out this thread:

Few folks that had the same problem. Runtime error usually means your virus scanner has mistaken the sowgb.exe for a virus.

I have disabled my internet, disabled my virus scanner, disabled my windows firewall, still no help.
I would appreciate it if the team could look into fixing this issue during a patch, I am slightly annoyed that I cannot play the game at all. Have to play TC2M and cannot do any modding things without running the game.
I am patient though.
I await a time when I can play again.
Thanks.

Hi.
Is your game patched to the latest version? If so then use the patch before this latest release, and see if you can play the game. If you can play then it's the patch. patches in the past can get buggered some way or another in download.
just my two cents worth.
later!

Given your situation, I would reinstall the game and the latest patch. If the game plays one day and not the next, then a virus or even your virus scanner has modified one of the game files. McAfee seems to be the worst offender for actually quarantining game files. A couple of months ago, they even trashed the M$ OS!

I have patched it to Patch Beta 4 or whatever just came out.
I haven't tried uninstalling it yet, but I do have McAfee, but they haven't been quarentined yet.

Hancock:
McAfee may just be blocking a file from being used. I think it is SCPWin32.dll in the Work folder that the anti-virus programs find offensive. If you can stop all the McAfee services from running, by using msconfig, you'll be able to tell what's going on. Hopefully, it's just a case of some other file being corrupted, and a reinstall will fix that.
Does the game start at all, (the opening screen appears)? Or do you get the error message immediately?

It's more than likely a virus blocker stopping the game from running. Make sure to add the game to the exception list.

Already is on the exception list.
Attempting to reinstall now, turned off the computer after it finished downloading just a while ago, so it'll be 30 minutes or so.

The only reason the game ever crashes is due to virus software. I really hate it and I'm working to get this to stop, but right now it is a firewall or virus software that is causing it. The exe and the dll must both be on the exception list in some cases.
