Specify Arty Ammo Bug?

I position my artillery where it has a clear field of fire against an opposing battery. I TC the battery commander and order him to fire on that battery using solid shot. He initially obeys and all cannons fire on the correct target and use solid shot. After just a few rounds, the cannons revert to using shrapnel even though they have plenty of solid shot available. If I re-order the use of solid shot, my orders are ignored! I guess the captain has never heard of drumhead court martial. The only way to get the cannons to fire solid shot is to TC each cannon and select solid shot.

I try to do this frequently but can never get it to work. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

You're doing nothing wrong and it isn't a "real" bug. I will suggest a change.
