Questions on Taking Charge..

I play issuing orders through messenger and a 60 yard camera redius from me. In the McPherson Ridge scenario, I highlighted Archer and clicked the TC Flag button. I notice a messenger was sent out. OK. I then issued a movement order by clicking on the terrain and then clicking line formation. Two more messengers were sent out. Nothing happened. Archer just sat there with his brigade in line formation behind the creek. What am I doing wrong?
Also, I am having a heck of a time moving my arty units. I have tried to do so by issuing a movement order to the commander and then clicking the unlimber in line formation at that point. Some time they do nothing, other times they move a short ways then unlimber and begin firing again. Do I need to issue an order to each individual battery? To much micromanagement for me. Is the TC button supposed to light up? I don't think mine does when I click it but as I said a messenger is sent out as if I have to send a messenger to notify a unit that I have TCed it.
Please give me some guidance here?

Come on guys, if some one has a spare minute, I really need some help here.
I chose a regiment to take charge of and then (when the TC flag is lit up) I give it an order to move and it does nothing.Just stands there.

I still can't get artillery to follow orders. What is the required proceedure to just haave a unit move to a specified location and set up in line formation?

I relly appreciate it. Thanks.

I hear your pleas, patience please, I need to do some more testing here regarding your issue before I declare it a bug and officially report it. It has to do with couriers and the unit not responding because of the randomness of the AI...setting certain units as reserve components. Regarding the artillery, the AI makes them stubborn, they see approaching the enemy as suicide. I'll get back on this soon.

If you TC a unit it won't execute orders issued by courier.

Which means that if I want to TC I can't be using the courier system?

Correct.

So, no testing there required, sometimes your units will follow orders, sometimes not, that's what you're dealt when relying on couriers...that's why this level is more historic, and more difficult. I was going to test on whether TC worked here, as well as detach, to force movement...ADukes answered that.

I have found if I TC a regiment with courier it works. If I TC a brigade commander it doesn't.
