Jackson's II Corps Scenario

My favorite scenario to play so far. Love the first day and both of the Louisiana Brigades are under my authority.
Is it possible for Longstreet and Anderson's Division to ever fight? I don't understand why they don't engage the enemy. And despite running the Federals off Blocher's Knoll and Seminary Ridge they still "defeated" me. Interesting. I didn't take Culp's Hill though.
edti: Not Culp's Hill... it's not on the map. I meant the Culps farm area or the Brickyard area.

Yeah, you've gotta really kick butt on this one to get a Major Victory. It's possible to get some crazy scores if you play it right, so keep plugging away at it.
As far as Longstreet and Anderson engaging, that's not possible.... For now... If/when the scenario's are open for modding, that can be modded pretty easily.

Yeah, my score was positive. It's not difficult to run the Federals back off their forward positions, but Culp's Hill is a pretty solid defensive position, and they regroup well on the lower end of Seminary Ridge.
Will look forward to a mod that gets Anderson's Division into the game. Make it an even fight.
edit: not Culp's Hill. it's not on the map. the brickyard area where Slocum and Geary are located.
Would Have Won, but for Crash

5 to 6 minutes left in the battle and it crashes. One too many commands. I shouldn't have touched anything. Damnation. Was in the town massacring Yankees and was approaching 10,000 points for Jackson... was sure to win the scenario. Lordy.

Did you try the same with lowered graphic settings?

Yeah, it doesn't crash every time. The game plays fine as well. No lag. This game had low uniforms. Uniform level provides the most notable lag though. Medium and High are fine, Best slows during battle.
This scenario has a lot of stuff going on so it is understandable. I can replicate my performance I think, so winning the scenario will happen soon.

One of the nice things about this scenario is it will almost play differently every time. there are sooooo many variables... :woohoo:

Yep, sometimes the Yankees come off their defensive line... the Iron Brigade often leaves it spot on the field to play defense somewhere else (they fight like the devil as well... had the totally surrounded and they were still routing regiments).
I've pretty much figured how to setup my units where I can keep the Federals stuck in their original locals... even the Iron Brigade.
They key, so people will know, is to avoid entangling yourself with the artillery (and the Iron Brigade if they don't move) around the McPherson barn. Just fight past them to North and had for the town.

Yeah, the Jackson Scenario is great. I haven’t finished it yet, but DH Hill’s Division has finally broken union defenses at Mummasburg Road and is rolling on to Gettysburg. Colston was slow in coming up, but now he’s attacking with parts of AP Hill’s division on his right flank at Barlow’s Knoll. I don’t know whether it will be enough to achieve a major victory, but it really doesn’t matter. It’s just fun to watch my men form up, go forward, and get slaughtered by canister fire, at least sometimes. So far I’m enjoying every minute of the game.
I’m trying to play only by giving courier orders to my division commanders and sometimes if necessary to brigade commanders and so far it works great and the AI is doing a good job on both sides (besides the already known fact that it can’t effectively charge artillery). Obviously, every once in a while I have to micromanage things like my artillery, charging the union artillery or some minor flanking movements but everything else is done by the AI. There was so far only one incident the AI couldn’t come up with a good strategy, when Wadsworth was moving his whole division from the McPherson Farm via Gettysburg to DH Hill’s front and nearly broke my centre.
Btw, Anderson does engage the enemy. I don’t know whether it’s scripted or I have done it, but he’s going forward. I sent Longstreet a couple of different messages from the beginning of the scenario: request his support on my right flank, attack the enemy at your front, move to Gettysburg center. And finally at some time (don’t know exactly when) he advanced Anderson’s division. But until now, his performance was very disappointing. First time he moved to McPherson Farm and 30 percent of his men were slaughtered by a union six gun battery (no infantry support) before he took it. The second time (I loaded up an savegame), I sacrificed one regiment, took the battery and the road to Gettysburg was open… but … instead of blocking or ignoring the union division on his right flank and moving on to Gettysburg, he attacked the right flank brigade and one battery… results so far: Anderson took heavy losses (around 2500), the union battery fled, 3 union regiments (behind it two idle union brigades in reserve) are still holding Anderson’s five brigades and he’s still not using his superior numbers to flank them.
So in spite of Anderson’s incompetence, a big thank you to the developer team, for their dedication and hard work to put this piece of art together. It is an experience as great as TCM2 and in many aspects even better.

PS: system: Intel CoreDuo E8400 @3GHz; 4GB RAM (3.25 used); ATI 3870 512 DDR4 RAM: graphic settings maxed out; viewing distance 2000 yards; resolution 1280x1024; everything is smooth, no lags, no freeze
I hope, my writing is comprehensible because lately I had no opportunity to write or speak English.

One would think that German is your second language.
