Sandbox vs Open Play

Post by Rob Son of Paul »

Will we ever be able to play like we did in TC2 with full OOB vs full OOB?

As of now on army vs army I get only fractions of the OOB vs fraction of OOB. Usually 11-15k vs 11-15k battles with mixed up corps and divisions.

Sandbox < Open Play IMO.

I miss open play.

Dont worry - as soon as the guys at SOW HQ iron out the kinks they have promised to open up the game to the modding community(which I suspect will be big!)like they did with Bull Run and TC2M - shouldnt be too long a wait as the launch has gone pretty well by all accounts.

I only know two tunes...One's "Yankee Doodle" and the other one isn't!

Hope so!

Though, how does modding solve this? Is this a game 'feature' where sandbox takes the OOB and picks some units for the battle to match forces instead of an intact OOB for sandbox play? To have full OOB in sandbox, won't that require a change in the core game?

So your complaint is that you want to use the full OOB with no changes. Just take everything that's in there. I believe this is my fault, as I didn't want people to crash because their machines can't handle the size of some of the full OOBs. That goes against a principle of mine, that I let people play the game the way they want and if their machines can't handle it, then they crash. But I've always let them try. I will put this on the patch list. You are right in wanting this.

I'm a little confused. I didnt think there was a difference between sandbox and open play in TC2M. If I only want to play Corp v. Corp...can I do that on Sandbox?

Yes you can play corp v corp or division v division and even bgde v bgde if you want.

I presume you will keep the 3 separate day OOBs as sandbox options as well as also making an overall 3day OOB with all included.

The issue here isn't about which OOB is in or will be in but the four options in SB for brigade, division, corps, and army. What is being asked here is for a fifth option of full OOBs. The manual explains those four options thoroughly.
