Scourge of War Boards

Just downloaded and fired up the tutorial.

My issue is that the sound is very muffled and "echoey", like someone yelling into a vase or something.

I think it may be an issue with my sound card and EAX. Does the game use EAX or hardware acceleration?

I had to uncheck EAX in my x-fi sound panel.

Yeah, disabling hardware acceleration in dxdiag fixed it.

VonViper our sound guy is on vacation (or hiding) but he is being notified of the issues.

I’ve just downloaded the demo and am having the same problems The sound is very muffled. I have Vista , Ati 4850 card ,4 Gig Ram. How do I go in to change the settings please?

try lowering your hardware acceleration.

Start>Run, type in DXDIAG, then click on Sound (1?) and then push the slider to the left by clicking on it.

I pushed the slider all the way off and it sounded like the rebs had an assault helicopter behind the ridge.

But it is better on my machine by sliding it one to the left.

Turning off EAX in my sound panel didn't do anything.

Hi Thanks for the help Im in sound 1 now but there is no slider I have Vista

So our sound guy has fallen off the face of the Earth. I honestly hope that he is ok. I haven't heard from him since last week and he's been an active member of the team for a long time. We will look into any coding solutions to the sound issues for the patch.

I am also having this issue. I thought at first it was working as designed... but reading these posts I see it is not. I can not hear any gunfire, even at loud volumes. What sound I can hear is very muffled. (mostly cannon and bugles)

Even when zooming right down to the unit firing, I hear nothing.

Update: I updated to the latest DX as suggested in a previous post and now my sound is excellent.
