Sandbox ---some bizarre AI behaviour
I think this has been mentioned elsewhere, but in a couple of brigade level sandbox games I have just played defending v Confed Pettigrew Brigade, once the initial attacks had been repelled, over a period following this ,Confed Regimental officer after officer rode calmly down the road and was killed riding into our line. The encounter generally was very good and advantage swung from side to side--but this very strange behaviour by the lower level Confed commanders made no military sense and must be a bug which needs squashing.

Re:Sandbox ---some bizarre AI behaviour
larrytag---I am sure I now know thecause of this bizarre behaviour---
It results from superior officers (Div or Corps commanders) being included with the attacking brigade or Div . The problem is these officers often ride off toward the ojective in advance of the attacking units and usually arrive before the attack -just riding down the road through the objective and usually being killed as a result--but then another replacement officer is spawned etc etc and often all of these will ride through the enemy lines and also get killed. I counted 21 such officers killed like this in one battle. This is really unrealistic behaviour and reduces the realism and immersiveness of the game .
I presume it could easily be squashed by either not including these "extra" officers or coding their behaviour to keep them observing from the start position only.
I really hope this change can be included in the patch to remove this unreal and bizarre behaviour from this brilliant game.
Cheers

It would be VERY helpful if you could get a save game of this. Turn on your autosave in the Options, and see if you can grab a save of an officer right before this happens. Then send to sowsupport at scourgeofwar dot com
