I just noticed the new courier message screen, very nice! Is this the way you will give orders to AI commanders? Or is it a "text message" for other human players? Is there specific messages/orders to the divisional and corps formations?

You can use it to communicate with anyone. The AI will follow the orders given in the message and humans can read them. There are a TON of messages, formations and orders are in there.

Hey,
Can one of the modders – help me out with this question pertaining to the new courier screens;

If I’m in Open Play and I have several brigades on the other side of the map, can I send one of the brigades a courier message – pertaining to march here – and a courier will ride over to them, causing them to march to my position?

If this is in the game – it will give a whole new meaning to keeping the roads open, and or clear.

Thanks,

davinci

Absolutely. You can order them to march to your left/right flank, or to a specific OBJ, farm, historic location.

Little Powell - Now that is really taking another step in the right direction; units that can be controlled by a courier adds a whole different level to playing this game!

Thanks, for the response;

Larry pretty much only plays that way and really brought the courier interface through it's paces. I hate getting saves from him, because they are always HITS which is a pain to debug. But he played using the courier screen and made sure that all the commands that the AI could follow were followed. I wish we could code all the commands, but we just didn't have the resources. The screen is moddable and very easy to add too. I think it was LP that found that calls for support weren't working. I was able to add that in a few minutes.

Jim & Mark killed me on the courier screen and I hated everyday that I spent coding it, but he obviously knew better than me what you guys would want.
