MOD DIRECTORY

In the GB Mod Directory ( or whatever you call it), Will you be able to store TC2M mods? or, will Writers of those mods be able to log mods into the directory for anybody to access? From the sounds of the way you have the new game set up, that GB could act like a clearing house for mods. ;)

As a 68 old computer illiterate, I am hoping (praying) that an extremely easy method for adding patches and mods is included. Something like "Follow Step 1, Follow Step 2, etc."

I would like to have added some of the mods from %TC2M but have only been successful in ???? the game to CMP 3 (or something like that)!

As a (nearly) 64 year old computer dyslexic I am here to say it's all much more friendly.

See:

All you really need is a marginal understanding of the windows filing system and be able to download stuff.

Though TC2M and SOWGB are similar, SOWGB is a totally rewriten and reorganized animal and I'm thinkin any file you're thinkin of from TC2M won't work by dropping it into the Mod folder in SOWGB. Any SOWGB Mod .....and there are gonna be plenty real soon I'm thinkin..... will just need to be stuck in the Mod folder and when you want to play it just select it on the Mod Screen.

IOW SOWGB will have to be kept seperate from your TC2M install.

I'm not 100% on what you are asking. Are you referring to uploading mods to a website for people to download?

What I have been thinking, is if your computer has both games loaded, with one source to select mods from it might work. I've never played a mod, LP gave me info on how to get cmp3, but did not have success on how to use it. I'm not computer literate. I feel safe within this site, but not krazy about going elsewhere to download stuff. I was hoping for a simple solution.

That's exactly right!

I was able to add the CMP3 and it works! Not sure how I did it...and am somewhat worried about doing it again when the new computer arrives.

In the same vein, I hope the old football principle of KISS is considered for any mods, et.al. (KISS = Keep It Simple, Stupid!)

Looking at the two of us, I'd say we are similar, but your smarter. :)

TC2M mods will not operate in the GB environment. There are many differences in the structure of critical individual files as well as the game file structure as a whole.

GB has a single directory where all mods can be loaded as subdirectories. These will then appear on the Mods page in the game where a mod can be activated or deactivated with two button clicks. Many mods may be activated at the same time. That just means that they will show up in the user scenario listings.

I was'nt intent on using the GB engine to run a mod, other than a GB mod, for I would have TC2M and GB both installed on my computer. Bedbug's article from a year ago covered that. I was looking for a way to crossover mods from your previous projects to this sight. As Norb put it, upload to here, then be able to download it to let's say forum members, something on that idea. Cause what I had in mind is a default system to separate TC2M mods from GB mods or any future NSD games that come about.
