Grant was supposed to not smoke in his later years, but Mark Twain, a friend, kept on bringing him cigars!
I remember reading somewhere, that in Grant's last days he could'nt even hold a cigar in his mouth, so Mark Twain would smoke really close to him so Grant could inhale the second-hand smoke. It was a sort of joke between them.Grant was supposed to not smoke in his later years, but Mark Twain, a friend, kept on bringing him cigars!
