1. Confirm that your anti-virus is completely disabled.
2. Uninstall the game using add/remove programs.
3. Install the Demo/Activate it.
4. Install latest patch.
With antivirus removed/disabled and a fresh copy of the game, it will work.
That sounds like corrupt files if you get that message. So it sounds like you aren't completely uninstalling the game before you re-install it.that's what it says when it wants to terminate the game when the message pops up.

Go to Start, Click on Run
Enter msconfig in the box and press OK
Go to the Services tab and uncheck anything having to do with Avg.
Do the same in the Startup tab.
Click OK and restart your computer.
But the description of the problem also makes me think some file was corrupted on download and installation.

You could always do a System Restore. Which version of Windows are you running? If you're running XP, it's in Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.
Vista, Win 7, I think it's in All Programs.
In System Restore, roll your computer back to a date before it stopped working. That may or may not fix it, but it's worth a shot. If that fixes it, remove AVG and never use it again...
You can use Malwarebytes or one of those on demand scanners.
If that doesn't do it, you may have to completely re-install Windows using the recovery disks that came with your computer.

nothing has worked so i'm just going to stop asking for advice and not be able to play anymore. i just think that on ordering the game you should get an actual disk so that if something goes wrong with the downloaded one you don't get cheated out of $45 and still be able to play.

Hi.
Just uninstall AVG, and any Abti-Virus scanners you have, reboot. DO NOT install avg or any of the other anti virus scanner software.
Install the game & patches, and play the game.
Hope to see you get the game running, but there is no reason to blame the game.
Later!

Re:Runtimer Error and SOW - Problems
AVG can be really difficult to remove completely. I had to do it at least three times. Then I learned my lesson, and now use PC Tools free AntiVirus and Firewall. If you type into your seach engine "how to remove AVG" you will find the instructions. It is a line by line removal from your registry. Once clean, reinstall the game before you add any new antivirus programs.
You own the game key, so Norb and team will help you get back on line, I'm sure.
